WEEKLY NEWS & NOTES

Graduation Sunday: The entire congregation is invited to our annual graduation recognition and potluck lunch in the AC after service today, Sunday, August 9th, 2026 in honor of Callie Ashberry. Callie graduated from Central Arkansas Christian School in May of this year and plans to attend Harding University this fall.

Children’s Homes Inc. Drive (Coin Banks & School Supplies): We are collecting coin banks for the Children’s Homes Inc. in Paragould, so please continue filling them up. All banks should be brought back to the church office by August's end. Running concurrently through the entire month of August, we are also sponsoring a school supply drive to benefit the Children’s Home. You can find a detailed list specifying the needed items placed on the table located at the back of the auditorium. With your incredible support last year, our congregation collected more than 200 items, and we hope to match that success once again. We are truly grateful for the church's ongoing generosity.

Ice Cream Social & Somers Sings Night: Get your recipes ready! Our annual Ice Cream Social, featuring an ice cream contest, and our quarterly Somers Sings night will both take place on Wednesday, August 26th. Everyone is invited to join us in the AC. Stay tuned for more details.

Backpack Buddies: We have 45 K-12th grade kids at Somers needing a big Backpack Buddy this year. Please reach out to Caroline Prestridge if you are interested in being an adult backpack buddy this year.

Additionally, please email to confirm your child's involvement if they are new to Somers, have never participated, or are non-members attending with you. Your communication helps greatly.

Back-to-School Breakfast: Join us on August 30th at 9am in the AC for a breakfast hosted by the young professionals class. Regular Bible classes are canceled. Big and little Backpack Buddies (BPBs) will meet here. Contact David Holley with questions.

Men’s Golf Retreat weekend is set for September 11-13th. If you are interested, contact Adam Prestridge.
