WEEKLY NEWS & NOTES

New Elder Recommendations: The elders would like to thank the congregation for looking within and providing the names of Larry Curtis and John Pickle to be considered as additional elders for Somers.  The elders have talked with both and would like to recommend them to the congregation to become elders.  If anyone has any scriptural objection to either of these men, please provide that in writing to the elders with your name and explanation for your scriptural objection as soon as possible and before November 14th to allow time to gather any required information.  This may be sent to the elders@somersavenue.org email address.  The intent is to install both as elders on Sunday, November 16th, if no scriptural objections are found.  Thank you for your help in this process.

The budget committee is now receiving budget requests for the 2026 calendar year. Please submit all requests by Sunday, November 16th to either Adam Prestridge, Duane Quesinberry, or Steve Mosley.

Hats and blankets for the Arkansas Children’s Hospital are due Sunday, November 16th. Please put items in a labeled bag with the following information: your name, number of items and “ACH”. Bags can be given to Linetta McDonald.

KEEP IN PRAYER & PRAISE

Praise: Rylon Kelly commited his life to Christ and was baptized last Sunday morning. Welcome to the Somers family, Rylon!

Ima Jean Robinson is at Springhill Hospital. They are trying to determine the cause of some internal bleeding. She is stable and resting and will be there at least 48 hours.

Mary Daniel has received a diagnosis of inoperable Hepatocellular Carcinoma (liver cancer). A procedure performed this week was successful. The next step in her treatment is an embolization to mitigate the risk of hemorrhage from large blood vessels within the mass. She is also being evaluated for possible immunotherapy in mid-November and will consult with palliative medicine to explore additional options. Mary would appreciate telephone calls and masked in-person visits; however, please confirm her availability in advance due to her compromised immunity. Your continued prayers are greatly appreciated.

Mary Hughes will begin treatment for kidney disease soon, which will include weekly infusions for 4 weeks.

Tim Jorgensen had a CT scan that showed some abnormalities. He has an MRI scheduled for Nov. 12th. Please pray for Tim.

Please pray for those with continued health problems including: Lovell Davis, Gail Jenkins, Joel Gray, Gil & Sue Myatt, Ima Jean Robinson, & Sue Simmons.
